…From the neighborhood …Williamsburg Brooklyn...
Carl Battista and Joe Caputo both began playing guitar at 11 years old. In the early 1970s they quickly teamed up with the kids from the neighborhood of Williamsburg Brooklyn NY and started their first band - Southern Earth. The grit of the 1970s was fertile ground for these hungry musicians, playing everything from hard rock to funk music
…from Churches to Greenwhich Village…
The streets were alive with music and the times were perfect for young kids wanting to emulate their musical hero's. Southern Earth played the church auditoriums and catholic school dances and when they finally hit their teens, they played the clubs and bars of the New York City night life -- showcasing at some of NYC’s legendary Greenwhich Village haunts such as Mills Tavern, The Back Fence, and Kenny’s Castaways.
